LABORATORY DESCRIPTION:

The Laboratory of Development Studies and Research (DeRes Lab) was founded in 2022 and is a renaming of the Tourism Research and Studies Laboratory, which operated in the Department of Business Administration (DBA) since 2000. It serves educational and research needs related to the key dimensions of development at local, regional, national and international level. In particular, the activity of the Laboratory focuses on the research regarding the issues of Economic Development, Regional and Local Development and Policy, Regional Policy (Cohesion Policy) of European Union, Urban Development, Regional Planning, Quantitative Methods of Regional Analysis, Sustainable Development, Regional Resilience, Circular Economy, Innovation, Human Resources Management, Project Management, Local Entrepreneurship and Sectoral Development (e.g. Transport, Tourism, Manufacturing, Rural Development).

The DeRes Lab has as object-mission:

Serving the research needs of the DBA and the University of the Aegean, in the above-mentioned subjects.
Support of the educational process of the undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the DBA.
Development and implementation of research and education tools and methods for the benefit of the DBA’s undergraduate, postgraduate students and PhD candidates.
Development and implementation of educational programs for groups of stakeholders, such as graduates and executives of companies and organizations.
Promotion of scientific research, through participation in research programs at national, European and international level.
Development of collaborations with research bodies of other Universities in Greece and abroad and undertaking joint projects for the advancement of research, but also the strengthening of the extroversion of the Department and the University.
Interconnection with the local and regional economy and society and systematic cooperation with enterprises and stakeholders at local, regional and national level (such as Ministries, Local Authorities, Chambers, Business Associations, Cooperatives).
Strengthening the professional prospects of the students, through their participation in educational and scientific activities (conferences, seminars, events), as well as in the research activity of the Laboratory.

Members

DeRes Lab is staffed by the teaching and research staff (Faculty) with similar research and educational interests, as well as by other staff of the DBA. Undergraduates, postgraduate students and PhD candidates can also take part in the activities of the Laboratory.
