The Business Connection Committee
The connection of the studies with the business and social environment is promoted through the actions of the Business Connection Committee, created by the Department. It promotes the connection and the communication of the Department with businesses, in all educational fields and sectors where cooperation between the two parties is required.
This Committee is composed of members of the Department's teaching and research staff, students of the Department and representatives of the business sector of the country. It covers various activities, is part of the Department's educational process and aims to improve the training level of students through the direct connection of theory and practice in business management and organization.
The main areas of activity of the Business Connection Committee are the following:
- Student internships in businesses.
- Lectures by business executives.
- Student educational visits to businesses.
- Career Days.
- Collaboration of the School with businesses in educational and research activities.

Internship
The internship program for students in the Department of businesses was the first activity of the Business Connection Committee and it is revolutionary for the Greek standards. Its implementation began in 1985 and works successfully to the present.
Within the framework of this institution, students of the Department are trained every year in paid jobs offered by businesses and organizations. During their internship, students are monitored and guided by both faculty members of the Department and executives of businesses. Students can choose the Internship either as an elective course or as a supplementary activity of the Department.
Lectures by Business Executives
As part of this institution, business executives from and commonly recognized individuals in professional and social fields are invited to give lectures at the Department. These lectures are addressed to students, as well as to the local society of Chios, and refer to issues and topics related to business administration, as well as the general economic and social environment.
Educational Visits
Each year, as part of the course program, educational visits to businesses of the island (and all over the country) are scheduled, aiming to create a closer connection between theoretical knowledge and specific practices as developed and implemented by the businesses themselves.
The program of the educational visits is announced at the beginning of the spring semester of each academic year.
Career Days
The Department organizes Career Days, during which business executives from various sectors are invited to Chios to meet, in scheduled interviews, senior students and graduates of the Department to explore the possibilities of a future professional collaboration.
Collaboration of the School with Businesses in Educational and Research Activities
This collaboration is reciprocal and includes, among others, the training of business executives by the Department, the development of master's theses and doctoral dissertations on issues concerning specific businesses, as well as cooperation in research projects.
Organization of Seminars and workshops for the Connection of the Department with Businesses
The Department periodically organizes seminars and workshops where students, faculty, and business executives exchange opinions and views on the connection between the University and the businesses, examine the progress of the internship program in the Department, as well as the work of the Business Connection Committee in general, and make suggestions for their improvement.
